About me

Hello there.

First allow me to thank you for visiting my website… “Thank you for visiting my website.” Well with that being said, let’s talk about me for a bit, (not that I like talking about myself, but it’s somehow mandatory in an about section).

I’m Yiasya, which should be pronounced as Yasja, but in real life most (if not all) people call me Tim. Also, I want to mention that most of them don’t even know I’m making music. It’s one of those facts I like to change in the upcoming years.
I’m born on the 28th of august 1971 in the Netherlands.

I’m an autodidact musician, which means I never had any lessons about how to play musical instruments. Well except saxophone that is. I took 4 or 5 sax lessons just so I would know how to maintain the instrument, how to put my fingers and on which end of the sax to blow in.

I started to play guitar when I was 9. At least that’s what I can remember. It was on a Spanish guitar. The first chords I learned at that age where some major chords. The D the G and the C. Now 40 years later I can say I know a few more.

My parents had an organ at home so I was a familiar with the keys, but I couldn’t really play. So, when I was 19, I bought a keyboard, a Technics KN1000SX, which I still use after 30 years. On this keyboard I learned to play.
And after about 15 years I realized that the only sounds I used where the piano sounds, so in 2005 I bought a piano, the Roland FP-5 which I also still use. I used it, (and still do), so much that it’s almost dead now. Many times I took it apart to fix it, but unfortunately the bits that are broken now are not available anymore, so it’s time for a new one.

The bands/artists that influenced me the most and evolved my taste in music to where it is now are:

  • The Beatles
  • Paul McCartney/Wings
  • Pink Floyd
  • Supertramp
  • Simon & Garfunkel

And of course there are many more artists I like who influenced me in a way, but The Beatles are leading the list by far. I think I have learned English mostly by singing along with the Beatles records from when I was very young, and I was singing out loud while reading the printed lyrics, not having a clue about what I was singing.

If you have any questions, or if there is anything you would like me to add to this about section. Please feel free to contact me via the contact section.

Thanks for reading.

Be well,

Yiasya

My favorite YouTube music video for this week.

Every now and then I will show here a youtube video that I like a lot, and which I want to share with you all. It can be an old or a new video. So maybe you have seen it already.
